The Family Resource Center (FRC)
Mission:
The Mission of the Family Resource Center (FRC) is to enhance students' ability to succeed in school by developing and sustaining partnerships that promote:
Early learning and successful transition to school
Academic achievement and well-being
Graduation and transition into adult life
Purpose:
The Family Resource Center's purpose is to help academically at-risk students succeed in school by helping to minimize or eliminate barriers to learning.
Services and Referrals:
FRCs are strengthened by community partnerships in their ability to provide vital programs, services and referrals to students and their families. These partnerships are critical in efforts on behalf of students to promote:
early learning and successful transition to schools
academic achievement and well-being
graduation and transition into adult life
Each center offers a unique blend of programs and services to serve the special needs of its student and family client populations. The goal of the FRC is to meet the needs of all children and their families served by the centers as a means to enhance student academic success.
Family Resource Centers serve children under school age and in elementary school and coordinate:
preschool child care
after-school child day care
families in training
family literacy services
health services and referrals
academic support
basic needs
The Family Resource Center also assists teachers and staff with activities such as coordinating volunteers, arranging field trip assistance, Family Fun Nights and other parent involvement events, assemblies for students and providing awards and incentives.
